Welcome to my tiny corner of the internet! I’m a Renaissance woman with too many interests and not enough time. I grew up in Gatlinburg, Tennesee, a tiny tourist town in the Great Smoky Mountains:

I went to college at Boston University and somehow managed a degree in Horn Performance and musicology:

Then I came back to Tennessee and lived in a trailer for a little while

Then I got an awesome opportunity to work with young artists at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan, one of the most beautiful places on earth:

While I was there, I got DOUBLY lucky and met this guy:

We got engaged in January 0f 2011:

Then we moved together to Chicago for a year:

And in June of 2012, we got married!

We had an awesome honeymoon in Hawaii:

And now we’re settled in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I started earning my MFA in creative writing from North Carolina State University. I’m also the current principle horn of the Raleigh Civic Symphony. I like to write about music, Appalachia, and a thousand other things that interest me – and I try not to take myself too seriously.
